Germantown, Tenn. (December 3, 2012) – LeeAnn Bailey, a senior at Germantown High School, has been named a C Spire Wireless Academic All-Stars Award winner.
Bailey is one of six students in the Greater Memphis area who received this week’s award for General Scholarship. C Spire Wireless will recognize more than 160 students during the 2012-2013 school year. Bailey and other weekly winners will be honored at a luncheon at the Hilton Memphis, Thursday, May 2, 2013.
Bailey is a top student and member of the school’s International Baccalaureate Program. She holds a 4.57 weighted grade point average, scored 32 on the ACT and has been recognized as a National Merit Semifinalist. Currently, she ranks sixth in a class of 443 seniors. Bailey is a gifted writer, who has been published three times in “Creative Communications.” She also placed third in an Ole Miss poetry contest.
A natural leader, Bailey is a role model for younger students. She has been inducted into the National Honor Society, Beta Club and National Latin Honor Society and is a member of the Latin Club, Junior Classical League, CLICK, Habitat for Humanity Club, PSAT Elite Club, 30+ Club, and Tempo Club. Bailey is a talented vocalists and member of the Chamber Choir.
The C Spire Wireless Academic All-Stars program was conceived to identify and recognize high school students for excellence in academics, school leadership and community service. Now in its 7th year, the C Spire Academic All-Stars Awards are presented weekly for 28 weeks during the academic year from nominations submitted by school administrators.
Judges include educators from Rhodes College, The University of Memphis, LeMoyne-Owen College and Christian Brothers University. Each Sunday during the year, C Spire Academic All-Stars are announced in The Commercial Appeal.
